Board of Education

The Board of Education meeting was held on Wednesday, April 29. TNTP presented at the work session about our partnership timeline and to gain the Board's feedback about the academic strategic planning process and priority areas.  

Discussion Topics: The Board reviewed Section G Personnel policies. We will do policy work this summer to align policy with master agreement areas.  The Board will work on its goals for the 2026-27 school year at the next work session

Action Items: The Board took the following actions:

---Certified staff nonrenewals and SY2026-27 employee contracts and notices of assignment. All recommendations passed except two contracts that were tabled until a special meeting on Wednesday, May 13. 

---Vision of Instruction: Approved

---Purchase of a white fleet vehicle: Tabled until a later meeting

---Updated facility use rates: Tabled until a work session at the next meeting to develop.

---A special education field trip to Santa Fe: approved

---First read of Policy JICJ regarding student cell phone and personal technology use: both passed the first reading and will be developed further at the work session on Wednesday, May 27. The Board wants more input from students, staff, and families about the cell phone policy as they continue to refine it. 

---Resignations and new hires. Lucy Mondragon. Debra Garcia, and Juanita Lobato's retirement resignations were approved, Narindra Andriamihaja's resignation was approved, Ronnie Medina was approved as a new substitute teacher, and one new hire was tabled until the special meeting.
